Company is not enough… January 15, 2009

I think today’s post is going to be a short one, because I am feeling rather tired and sluggish. At least I can look forward to tomorrow being the last day of the week Bring on the weekend

This morning I received an email from my mother in regards to my horse-riding dilemma. The email was written in a very kind manner, but still managed to make me feel sad… My mother basically said, that if I no longer wish to ride my horse, then she wants to sell him, because otherwise he’ll cost her too much money and has no use being with us if he can be ridden by someone else…

What a way to stomp on my views and values, by:

1: Attempting to sell the animal to a new home, where he’ll be taken away from the location and herd members that he has grown accustomed to, and continue to be ridden. Even though this is the exact thing I wanted to stop from happening to him

2: Basically admitting to me that she believes the animal has no use other than to be ridden, and the great value that I place on him as a pet and loving companion are apparently irrelevant….

I understand that my mother puts a lot of money into looking after the horses, however, I view them as pets and companions. I find it therapeutic to groom them and to spend time with them. I love my horse for his personality and companionship, the riding was a perk. I am quite angered/saddened by my mothers email…

Lets hope that I can convince her over the weekend to understand my point of view, and to allow me to keep him…
